The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has been elected as the Chairman of the South West Governors’ Forum.
His election was confirmed during a closed-door meeting held in Lagos on Monday, attended by all six governors from the South West states.
Sanwo-Olu succeeds the late Ondo State governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, who served as the forum’s chairman until his passing on December 27, 2023. The meeting was convened to appoint a new leader for the forum, ensuring continuity and collaboration among the South West states.

The South West Governors’ Forum is a coalition of the governors from Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, and Ekiti states. The forum aims to address regional issues and foster development through shared policies and initiatives.
