The Kano State Police Command has called on residents to disregard false information circulating on social media regarding the ousted 15th Emir of Kano Alhaji Aminu Bayero, leading the Friday prayers at the Central Mosque.
Commissioner of Police Usaini Gumel clarified in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday that Bayero will observe his prayers at the mosque within Nasarawa Palace, where he currently resides.
Commissioner Gumel emphasized that the police, along with other state security agencies, will ensure robust security at the Emir’s Palace. It is at this location where Emir Muhammad Sanusi II is expected to lead the Jummah prayers.

“The police urge the general public to disregard the false reports and misinformation circulating on social media and go about their activities without fear of molestation or intimidation,” Gumel stated.
“We will continue to provide the necessary security to ensure that residents can observe their Friday congregational prayers peacefully without threats to their lives and property.”
Commissioner Gumel urged the community to volunteer credible information regarding the movements of suspicious individuals to aid in prompt security actions within the state.

This reassurance from the police comes amid heightened tensions and misinformation following recent chieftaincy changes and ongoing security concerns in Kano.
