BET Awards: Nigerian Music Stars Shine, Get Major Nominations

The Nigerian music scene continues to solidify its global presence as multiple Nigerian artists bag nominations for the prestigious 2024 BET Awards.

Among the celebrated names are Burna Boy, Davido, Ayra Starr, Asake, Tems, Lojay, and Seyi Vibez, who have all earned nods across various categories, marking a significant moment for African representation in the international music arena.

The announcement of nominations, made by the organizers of the annual BET Awards, unveiled a diverse lineup of talent, with African stars claiming their well-deserved spots.

Burna Boy, often dubbed the ‘African giant’, stands out with nominations in the Best Male Hip Hop Artist and Best Male R&B/POP Artist categories.

Joining him are fellow Nigerian luminaries, including Asake, Ayra Starr, and Seyi Vibez, each making their mark in different categories.

Davido and Lojay, not directly nominated for their individual works, earned a nomination for the Viewers Choice Award owing to their collaboration on the hit track ‘Sensational’ alongside Chris Brown.

Asake, known for his dynamic sound and captivating performances, clinched a nomination for ‘Best International Act’, further solidifying his position as a rising star on the global stage.

Seyi Vibez, on the other hand, received recognition in the ‘Viewers Choice Best International New Act’ category, signifying his emergence as a promising talent to watch.

The anticipation for the BET Awards 2024 is palpable as music enthusiasts worldwide eagerly await the live broadcast, scheduled to air on BET on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at 8 p.m. (European Time). With a lineup boasting a fusion of established icons and emerging talents, this year’s ceremony promises to be a celebration of diversity, creativity, and the power of music to transcend boundaries.
