Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has called on President Bola Tinubu to reduce the price of petrol to ₦300 per litre to ease the financial burden on Nigerians during the festive season.

George made the appeal during a press conference in Lagos on Wednesday, urging the government to implement the reduction immediately.

George emphasized the significance of the festive period and how the price cut would spread joy across the country.

“By the middle of December, President Tinubu should consider reducing the price of petrol to ₦300 per litre.

This gesture will bring relief and happiness to Nigerians during this critical period of December and January. The government can absorb the losses for this short time,” George stated.

He added, “If the First Lady could donate ₦1 billion to a university, similar efforts could be made to offset the cost of this reduction.

Such a move will positively impact the lives of Nigerians and help families enjoy the festive period.”

George also noted that the reduction would lower the cost of goods and services, making life easier for citizens across all sectors.

Speaking on the state of the PDP, George expressed optimism that the party would resolve its internal crises before the 2027 elections.

He criticized party members who prioritize personal ambitions over collective goals, citing this as a major cause of instability.

“PDP has a foundation built on justice, equity, and fairness. The doctrine of zoning and rotation in our constitution is meant to ensure balance.

However, manipulation by individuals pursuing personal ambitions has created challenges,” he said.

George blamed the crisis on former party leaders and urged the PDP to return to its foundational principles. He expressed confidence that the party would overcome its issues and regain its footing.

The PDP leader emphasized the importance of unity and collective responsibility, urging party members to prioritize the party’s interests over personal gains.

He reiterated his commitment to restoring the party’s stability and ensuring its readiness for the next electoral cycle.

“The PDP is like an Iroko tree, deeply rooted in the constitution. We need to revisit our principles and make the party stable again. We owe it to ourselves and future generations to fix what we broke,” George concluded.
