Presidency Declares Neutrality In Rivers State Political Crisis

In the midst of the escalating political crisis in Rivers State, the Presidency has made a definitive statement regarding its stance.

Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Bola Tinubu, Ajuri Ngelale, affirmed this during an interview  that President Tinubu would maintain a position of neutrality between the conflicting parties.

The rift involves the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, and Governor Siminalayi Fubara, both embroiled in a power struggle that has deeply divided the state’s political landscape.

Despite mounting pressures from various quarters, Ngelale asserts that President Tinubu would not be swayed into favoring any side.

“Anyone with the belief that President Tinubu would take their side in the political crisis would be disappointed,” Ngelale stated emphatically. He emphasized that President Tinubu’s primary concern is ensuring the smooth operation of the Rivers State government and the welfare of its people.

Ngelale further clarified that President Tinubu’s focus lies in providing necessary support for all stakeholders to carry out their duties effectively.

“Mr. President will not do that. What he will do is to ensure that everybody has what they need in order to work,” he asserted.

Moreover, Ngelale underscored the President’s commitment to thwart any attempt aimed at undermining the functioning of the Rivers State Government.

“He will also ensure that any attempt to frustrate the operation of the Rivers State Government of conducting its affairs in a way that it would benefit the Rivers people, that’s obviously not going to be allowed by this President or anybody else,” Ngelale stated firmly.

Ngelale however reiterated the message of neutrality from the Presidency, urging all stakeholders involved in the Rivers State political crisis to understand that President Tinubu would not take sides.

“So, I think there’s a need for all stakeholders to understand that Mr. President won’t take sides,” he emphasized.

As tensions continue to mount in Rivers State, the declaration of neutrality from the Presidency may serve as a crucial signal for all parties involved to seek resolution through dialogue and cooperation rather than escalating the conflict further.
