The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has handed over 20 newly procured Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs) to the Defence Headquarters in a bid to fortify the Nigerian Armed Forces to tackle the emerging security threats in the country.
The transfer ceremony, which took place on Wednesday, saw Dr. Ibrahim Kana, the Permanent Secretary of the MoD, officially hand over the APCs to the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa, in Abuja.
Dr. Kana emphasized the critical role of the APCs in augmenting the nation’s defence capabilities and enhancing the operational effectiveness of the Nigerian Armed Forces.

He reiterated that the handover represented a significant milestone in ongoing efforts to bolster the readiness of the troops, providing them with enhanced protection and mobility to carry out their duties effectively in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty.
In his remarks, Gen. Musa underscored the strategic importance of the APCs in enabling swift and decisive responses to security threats.
He praised the MoD for its steadfast support in equipping the Armed Forces and commended the acquisition as a testament to Nigeria’s commitment to enhancing its defence capabilities.

Expressing gratitude for the procurement of the APCs, Gen. Musa emphasized the ceremony’s significance in Nigeria’s continuous efforts to strengthen its defence capabilities and ensure national security.
“With the addition of these 20 Armored Personnel Carriers, the Nigerian Armed Forces are now better equipped to navigate the challenges of the modern security landscape and uphold peace and stability across the nation” he remarked.

The ceremony also witnessed the presence of Maj.-Gen. Emmanuel Undiandeye, the Chief of Defence Intelligence, underscoring the collaborative efforts within the Armed Forces to confront security challenges effectively.
