Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has ordered the immediate suspension of Ibrahim Rabi’u, a Senior Special Reporter (SSR) attached to the Ministry of Transportation, over alleged unguarded and inflammatory remarks targeting former Governor and leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

The suspension directive was issued on Saturday by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim, and confirmed in a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

According to the statement, the state government strongly dissociates itself from the controversial remarks made by the suspended aide, stressing that Rabi’u acted independently and without official authorization.

The statement described the remarks as personal and lacking any governmental endorsement or approval.

In addition to the suspension, the government has ordered that a formal query be issued to Rabi’u to explain the motive behind his public comments.

The governor’s office also used the opportunity to reaffirm communication protocols for all political appointees, stating that unauthorized statements, particularly on politically sensitive matters, will not be tolerated.

“The government cautions all political appointees against unauthorized comments, especially outside their jurisdiction. Any political appointee must get clearance before making public comments on issues that have to do with the position of the government on matters of public importance or of sensitive political decisions,” the statement read.

It further emphasized that only the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Garba Wayya, is permitted to speak officially on behalf of the state government, while the Director-General of Media and Publicity, Sanusi Bature, speaks for the Governor.
