Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has met with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, to seek stronger federal backing for his administration’s priorities, particularly in security, infrastructure development, and strategic collaboration with the Federal Government.
The closed-door meeting, held on Monday, was confirmed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin Tofa.
According to the statement, Yusuf used the opportunity to brief the President on key challenges facing Kano State, especially the worsening security situation in some local government areas.
During the meeting, the governor drew attention to the recent tragic killing of a housewife and her children in the state, stressing the urgent need for enhanced federal support to reinforce security operations and safeguard lives.
Yusuf highlighted the efforts of the Kano State Neighbourhood Watch Corps, noting its role in supporting conventional security agencies, and called for closer collaboration with federal security institutions to improve intelligence sharing and response.
The governor also outlined Kano’s broader development agenda, with emphasis on mega infrastructure projects aimed at stimulating economic growth and job creation.

He expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for the Federal Government’s intervention on the Wujuwuju Road, describing it as a significant boost to the state’s economy.
“He sought the President’s support to accelerate ongoing federal projects and ensure Kano fully benefits from national programmes and investments,” the statement said.
President Tinubu, in response, assured Governor Yusuf of the Federal Government’s commitment to partnering with Kano State to address insecurity and promote sustainable development.
The meeting came amid growing speculation that the governor is finalising plans to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
