Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has instructed the State Auditor General to commence an audit of the accounts of all 23 Local Government Areas for the past three years.
This directive was issued on Wednesday during the swearing-in ceremony of 23 Caretaker Committee Chairmen for the Local Government Councils of the State.

Governor Fubara emphasized that the audit is intended to ensure accountability and transparency for the incoming officials.
He highlighted the importance of this measure as a check to uphold financial integrity within the local governments.
In his address to the newly appointed Caretaker Committee Chairmen, Governor Fubara urged them to prioritize the interests of their constituents and to demonstrate that their appointments were well-founded.

“Do not see yourselves as superheroes,” he advised. “Protect the interests of your people and prove that the government made the right choice in appointing you.”
