BAYELSA GOV

Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The governor made the announcement on Wednesday at the Executive Council Chamber of the Bayelsa Government House but did not disclose which political party he intends to join next.

His decision was reportedly supported by 23 members of the State House of Assembly, including the Speaker.

Diri’s defection comes barely 24 hours after his Enugu State counterpart, Peter Mbah, left the PDP for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
