Rotary International has stressed the need for males above age 40 to undergo the compulsory Prostate Screening Assessment (PSA).
Prostate screening is the process of detecting undiagnosed prostate cancer in men without signs or symptoms.
Kano State Coordinator, Rotary for Family Health Days, Rotarian Kazeem Gbolahan Afolayan made the call during the official flag-off of its free medical outreach for 556 Kano residents.
Afolayan, who is also the District 9125 Secretary, listed the outreach to include free hepatitis screening, glucose level, blood level, PSA, HIV and malaria tests.
According to him “These are the predominant health issues affecting people,” hence the essence of the gesture.
He noted that cases beyond their capacity would be referred to the nearest hospital. The outreach took place concurrently at Kawaji, Tokawara and Tarauni Primary Health Centres in Kano.
