Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and 2023 presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, declaring that no one can create division between them.
Yusuf made the statement on Tuesday during an event held in honour of Kwankwaso’s 69th birthday, where he described the former governor as a visionary and God-given leader whose guidance continues to shape Kano’s progress.
“Those within and outside trying to create a quarrel between me and our leader, Engineer Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, will not succeed,” Yusuf said. “We will continue to follow the legacy and principles of the Kwankwasiyya movement because Kwankwaso is a God-given leader.”
The governor dismissed persistent rumours of a rift between him and his political mentor, assuring supporters that their bond remains solid.

He also prayed for Kwankwaso’s long life and continued strength, acknowledging his leadership as instrumental to the NNPP’s rise in Kano politics.
In recent months, speculations of tension had emerged following the formation of a movement known as “Abba Tsaya da Kafarka” (Abba Stand on Your Feet), reportedly led by former government officials Baffa Bichi and Salisu Digol.
The group was said to advocate greater autonomy for Yusuf’s administration, a move many political observers believed could strain his relationship with Kwankwaso.
However, Governor Yusuf’s latest remarks appear to have laid such rumours to rest, reinforcing his commitment to the Kwankwasiyya ideology and the political partnership that brought the NNPP to power in Kano State.
