Coalition Of Political Heavyweights Adopts ADC To Unseat Tinubu In 2027

In a bold political realignment aimed at unseating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections, a coalition of prominent Nigerian politicians and former public officials has formally adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its official political platform.

The decision was made public during a strategic meeting held on Monday, July 1, and is expected to be formally announced at a high-profile event today, July 2, in Abuja.

The coalition also unveiled its interim leadership, with former Senate President David Mark emerging as the National Chairman, former Osun State Governor and Interior Minister Rauf Aregbesola as the National Secretary, and former Sports Minister Bolaji Abdullahi as the Spokesperson of the party.

The coalition, comprising disenchanted leaders from both the ruling APC and the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), says it is poised to present a viable third force to challenge the current political establishment.

In a significant show of support, several top-ranking PDP stalwarts were present at the closed-door meeting. Among them were former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, ex-Foreign Affairs Minister Tom Ikimi, former Nigerian Ambassador to China Aminu Wali, and former PDP National Chairman Uche Secondus.

The PDP leaders jointly expressed deep dissatisfaction with both the APC and the PDP, insisting that Nigerians had been consistently failed by the two dominant parties.

“We must rethink our politics and give Nigerians a credible alternative,” said one of the leaders who spoke on condition of anonymity. “This coalition is not just about political survival; it is about salvaging a nation in crisis.”

According to insiders, the coalition’s marathon strategy session, which lasted into the early hours of Tuesday, focused on shaping a unified roadmap that would position the ADC as a strong contender in the 2027 elections.

The meeting reportedly addressed issues such as internal party structure, voter mobilization, campaign messaging, and coalition expansion.

The formal announcement of the ADC as the coalition’s platform is expected to spark a major political shift, with indications that more defections from both APC and PDP may occur in the coming weeks.
