The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially appointed Prof. Yilwatda Nentawe, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development, as its substantive national chairman.
The announcement was made on Thursday during the party’s 14th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Abuja. Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, who also serves as Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, disclosed the decision.
Nentawe’s appointment was confirmed after a motion raised by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, was seconded and unanimously adopted by the NEC.

He was immediately sworn into office, taking the oath of office in the presence of top party leaders and officials.
A native of Plateau State, Nentawe brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously contested as the APC governorship candidate in Plateau during the 2023 general elections.
Party stakeholders have expressed optimism that his leadership will usher in a new era of unity and strategic direction for the ruling party ahead of future elections.
