Police authorities in Kwara State have arrested a suspected ritualist for the attempted murder of a 10-year-old boy.
According to Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, the spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, the arrest followed a distress call about the incident in the Abab, Oke-Foma area of Ilorin, the state capital.
“It was reported that a 10-year-old boy, Akeem Nurudeen, a resident of Abab area Abayawo, Ilorin, was hawking pepper when he was lured into a room by a suspect identified as Isiaka Adeniyi, aged 46, from Ifedapo Community, Oke-Foma area, Ilorin,” said Ejire-Adeyemi in a statement.

The suspect allegedly lured the victim under the pretext of purchasing pepper but instead covered the boy’s face with a cloth and attempted to slaughter him with a knife.
However, vigilant community members intervened and apprehended the suspect, bringing him to the police station.
Grassroots Parrot gathered that a preliminary investigation is underway, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough and discreet investigation.

The police commended the community for their proactive efforts in apprehending the suspect.
