Panic and grief have engulfed the Zuru Emirate in Kebbi State following a deadly late-night attack on Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS), Maga, in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area.
Armed bandits stormed the school on Thursday night, killing the Vice Principal, Malam Hassan Yakubu Makuku, and abducting an unspecified number of students. The attackers reportedly gained access to the school unhindered, unleashing terror on students and staff.
Eyewitnesses said Malam Hassan was shot while attempting to shield students from the armed invaders. His death has left the community devastated, with residents describing him as a courageous and dedicated educator who died protecting the children under his care.

A resident, Murjanatu Hassan Gishiri, confirmed the incident, saying the community has been thrown into fear and mourning.
“It is a heartbreaking tragedy that has thrown the entire region into deep fear and mourning,” she lamented.
As of the time of filing this report, security agencies have not issued an official statement, and the exact number of abducted students remains unclear.

The lack of immediate communication has heightened anxiety in the community, with families desperately seeking information about their missing children.
