Tragedy struck in Delta State as two boys, aged 16 and 12, drowned in separate rivers in Isoko North and Isoko South Local Government Areas.

The first incident occurred on Wednesday in Owhelogbo community, Isoko North LGA, where a 16-year-old boy identified as Sylvester reportedly drowned while swimming with friends.

According to eyewitnesses, Sylvester was suddenly pulled under the water. One of his friends, who raised the alarm, recounted that efforts to rescue him proved unsuccessful. His lifeless body only resurfaced around 9 pm despite frantic search efforts by locals.

Friends of the deceased expressed shock over the tragedy, stating that Sylvester was an experienced swimmer who had frequently entered the river without any problems. The circumstances surrounding his drowning remain unclear.
