Mai Martaba, the Kannywood most expensive movie recently selected as a contender at prestigious Oscar awards, has secured a partnership deal with a renowned luxury fashion house, Jamal Faris.
Recall that the Nigerian Official Selection Committee for the Best International Feature Film category of the Academy Awards, popularly known as the Oscars, had in October selected “Mai Martaba” as a contender at the 97th Academy Awards.
The movie director, Prince Daniel, popularly known as Aboki, in a statement on Saturday, confirmed the new endorsement with the fashion house, describing it as landmark momentum in the movie’s Oscar campaign.
According to him, the endorsement is set to enhance the film’s global presence, with the director and their team sporting the high-end fashion brand throughout their journey toward the Academy Awards.
“The collaboration with Jamal Faris signals a turning point in the film’s Oscars campaign, which has already attracted significant attention both locally and internationally.

Aboki also confirmed the film’s special guest appearance as a model at the much-anticipated Colors of Nigeria fashion show in Paris, scheduled for early 2025.
The star-studded event, hosted by Jamal Faris, will bring together some of the most celebrated Nollywood and Hollywood actors on the runway, with Mai Martaba’s director joining the ranks of international models for this unforgettable showcase of Nigerian culture and style.
The statement reads, “For up-and-coming fashion designers, the Paris fashion show offers an exceptional opportunity to gain global recognition. Jamal Faris will invite emerging talents to submit their designs for a chance to have their creations featured on the runway.
In addition to the prestige of being part of the show, the winning designer will receive substantial start-up capital in the seven figures, providing them with the financial backing needed to propel their fashion career to international heights.

The buzz around Mai Martaba has only intensified following its selection by the Nigerian Oscars Selection Committee (NOSC) as Nigeria’s official entry for the 2025 Academy Awards.
This decision, which highlights the film’s artistic excellence and cultural significance, was further bolstered by the recent support from Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima GCON. His endorsement has given a powerful boost to the film’s visibility, marking it as a key contender for the prestigious award.
With the backing of both the Nigerian government and high-profile industry figures like Jamal Faris, Mai Martaba is poised to make an indelible impact on the global stage.
The film’s journey to the 2025 Oscars is already shaping up to be one of the most talked-about campaigns of the year, with the fashion partnership and the Paris show providing a unique blend of style, culture, and cinematic excellence—a combination many creative enthusiasts are calling’ movie meets fashion.”
