The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has firmly rejected the prospect of Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, succeeding Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in the 2027 gubernatorial elections.
This opposition comes after endorsements from groups such as the Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders, which touted Seyi Tinubu as a potential candidate, and Friends of Seyi Tinubu, which described him as a visionary leader with exceptional qualities.
Reacting to these endorsements, Lagos PDP spokesperson Hakeem Amode dismissed the idea, criticizing the perception of governance as a family inheritance.

“Lagos will not serve him. Governorship is not a gift,” Amode said in an interview with Punch. He warned that any attempt to impose Seyi Tinubu on Lagosians would face strong resistance.
Amode also pointed out that many Lagosians had already rejected President Tinubu’s political dynasty during the last presidential election, signaling widespread dissatisfaction.
“The rejection of Tinubu during the presidential election is a clear message. Lagosians will not support his son’s governorship ambitions,” he stated.
