The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced plans to conduct a comprehensive review of the Saturday governorship election in Ondo State, describing it as a flawed process that undermines Nigeria’s democracy.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP expressed dissatisfaction with the conduct of the election, alleging widespread irregularities orchestrated by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ologunagba criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for failing to meet the expectations and standards required for a free, fair, and credible election. He labeled the Ondo election as the “worst” conducted by the electoral body.
“This election witnessed widespread election merchandising, monetization, and barefaced vote buying by the APC and its apparatus in government to suppress the genuine aspirations of the people,” Ologunagba alleged.

The PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) is set to undertake a detailed analysis of the election’s outcome and vowed to take appropriate measures to safeguard the nation’s democracy.
“As a party, we remain committed to defending Nigeria’s democratic process. The NWC will carefully review the conduct and results of the Ondo election and take all necessary steps in the interest of democracy,” Ologunagba stated.
The PDP urged Nigerians and the international community to take note of the alleged irregularities witnessed during the election.
“This is electoral swindling at its peak. Serious action must be taken to address these issues if Nigeria’s democracy is to survive,” Ologunagba said.
