The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast hazy and sunny conditions across Nigeria from Sunday to Tuesday, with thunderstorms expected in various regions.
According to NiMet’s weather outlook released on Saturday, northern Nigeria will experience moderate dust haze on Sunday, with horizontal visibility ranging from 2 to 5 kilometers and localized visibility potentially dropping to 1,000 meters or less.
In North Central areas, sunny skies with scattered clouds are expected in the morning, followed by thunderstorms and moderate rain in the afternoon and evening in parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Kogi, Benue, and Nasarawa States.

Southern states like Ondo, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River will likely see morning thunderstorms and moderate rain, with more widespread thunderstorms later in the day.
The forecast for Monday indicates continued dust haze in the North, with visibility remaining limited, while the North Central region will again see sunny skies in the morning and thunderstorms later in the day across the Federal Capital Territory, Kwara, Benue, and Kogi States.
The southern region, including Imo, Ebonyi, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Lagos, is expected to experience morning thunderstorms and rain, followed by further storms in the evening.
Tuesday’s forecast maintains hazy skies with limited visibility in northern areas. Sunny skies with cloud patches will persist in the central region, and thunderstorms with moderate rain are expected later in the day in parts of Cross River and Akwa Ibom States.

NiMet advises the public to exercise caution as dust particles remain suspended, urging individuals with asthma and respiratory conditions to limit exposure.
It also recommends precautions against strong winds expected to accompany thunderstorms and advises airline operators to obtain detailed weather updates for flight planning.
