Gunmen, believed to be Boko Haram insurgents, launched a deadly attack on Faudiya School in Geidam Local Government Area of Yobe State early Friday morning, killing three students and leaving one injured.

Faudiya School, affiliated with the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), a Shiite sect, was targeted in an assault that occurred around 3:44 am while the victims were asleep. According to eyewitness reports, the assailants forcibly removed the students from their dormitories before executing them outside the school premises.

“There is tension and concern in the town after this incident. People are terrified over this unfortunate incident,” a local resident stated.

A member of the local vigilante group confirmed the fatalities, adding that one student who attempted to flee was wounded and has since been hospitalized.

The Yobe State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the attack but withheld further details.

The deceased persons have been identified as Muhammadu Saleh, 22 years, Ahmed Abdulrahman, 21 years, and Abdullahi Adamu, also 21 years, who were said to have been killed, while Sani Haruna, 25 years, who was injured, is currently receiving medical treatment.

The attack has heightened fears in Geidam, a town already troubled by recurring insurgent violence.
