The University of Ilorin has called on its graduates to promptly collect their unclaimed certificates, citing a significant backlog.
In an internal memorandum dated December 18, 2024, the institution outlined a final deadline for collection to avoid penalties.
According to the memo signed by the University Registrar, M.A. Alfanla, graduates—both undergraduate and postgraduate—must claim their certificates by Friday, January 17, 2025. Those who fail to meet this deadline will incur a penalty fee of ₦3,000 for each week of delay.

“The University Management, therefore, urges all affected graduates to collect their certificates on or before Friday, 17 January 2025. Failure to do so thereafter will attract a fine of ₦3,000.00 per week,” the statement read.
To facilitate a smooth collection process, the university advised graduates to come prepared with the required documents, including proof of payment for convocation, the original Statement of Results, the Student Identification Card, and any other relevant paperwork.
This directive underscores the institution’s effort to streamline its administrative processes and ensure that graduates have access to their certificates, which are essential for career and academic advancements.
Graduates have been urged to act swiftly to avoid additional costs and administrative hurdles.
