The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of a notorious armed bandits’ syndicate and intensified security surveillance across the state to prevent further infiltration by criminal groups.
In a statement released on Saturday, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the arrests were made during a coordinated operation around 2 a.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, in the Farin Ruwa community of Shanono Local Government Area.
“Acting on credible intelligence from members of the Farin Ruwa community, combined operatives of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad and Shanono Division conducted a coordinated tactical operation. During the raid, two suspects believed to be linked to an armed bandits’ syndicate were successfully apprehended,” the statement read.

Kiyawa added that preliminary investigations revealed the suspects were allegedly working with bandits attempting to infiltrate Kano State.
“The Command has launched a comprehensive investigation to uncover the extent of their operations and connections. Efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the syndicate and bring them to justice,” he stated.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the vigilance and cooperation of the Farin Ruwa community, describing their intelligence contribution as key to the operation’s success.
Bakori urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious persons or movements to the nearest security agency, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to keeping Kano safe from bandit activities.
“Community cooperation remains our greatest weapon against insecurity,” the Commissioner emphasized.
