The Kano State Government has extended the market closing time from 6pm to 6.30pm during the holy month of Ramadan.
The affected markets are Sabon Gari, Singa, and Galadima, according to the Managing Director of the State Markets Management Board, Abdul Bashir Hussein.
Hussien, while briefing newsmen on Tuesday, linked the extension to the Ramadan season, according to a statement by the Board’s spokesman, Ado Haruna Muhd.

The statement quoted Hussain as saying that the extended period will boost trading activities and enable the state residents to have enough time to purchase items needed for Ramadan.
According to him, residents of neighboring states do visit the markets to shop for Salah celebrations, therefore urging traders to cooperate with their employees to ensure the safety of their goods and their customers.
The Board’s Managing Director, however, expressed gratitude to the markets’ traders for their continued collaboration with the Kano State government and the leadership of Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf.
