Men of the Adamawa State Police Command have arrested a traditional herbalist, identified as Murtala Musa, in connection with the alleged killing of an 11-year-old boy, Yangapwa David, in Kodomun village, Demsa Local Government Area of the state.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the arrest in a statement to newsmen on Monday, April 14. According to him, the distressing incident was reported to the Demsa Police Division on April 13 by the village head of Kodomun and the victim’s mother, Fancy Alifas.
Nguroje said that the mother of the deceased narrated that her son was taken to the herbalist for treatment. However, tragedy struck when the young boy allegedly died while in the custody of the herbalist. The family, unaware of any foul play, reportedly made arrangements to transport the body home.

The situation took another turn when the grieving mother returned to retrieve her son’s corpse from the herbalist’s room, only to find that his left eye had been removed, raising suspicion of ritual activity.
Following the report, police operatives swiftly mobilized to the scene, where the suspect, Murtala Musa, was arrested. The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
The state Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has assured the public that the command will ensure a thorough investigation and that justice will be served.
He condemned the gruesome act and emphasized the command’s commitment to protecting the lives and rights of all residents in the state.
Nguroje added that the suspect remains in custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
