The Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has expelled no fewer than 60 students from various departments for their involvement in examination malpractices, in a decisive move to protect academic standards.
The decision was reached during the university’s 43rd statutory Senate meeting held on January 7, 2026, following a thorough review of reports and recommendations submitted by relevant academic and disciplinary committees.
The development was made public through an official announcement on BUK’s verified Facebook page, where the management confirmed that the affected students were found guilty of acts that contravened the institution’s examination rules and regulations.
According to the statement, the Senate carefully examined each case before approving the students’ dismissal.

“After reviewing the cases, the Senate approved the expulsion of the students in accordance with the university’s examination regulations,” the statement read.
BUK reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on examination misconduct, stressing that the institution would continue to impose strict sanctions on offenders to deter future violations.
The university further reaffirmed its commitment to upholding academic integrity and discipline, warning students that any form of examination malpractice would attract severe consequences, regardless of status or department.
