ELECTION 2

The Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) has declared candidates of the New Nigeria Peoples’ Party (NNPP) winners of the local government elections in all 44 local government areas of the state.

Grassroots Parrot reports that KANSIEC Chairman, Sani Malumfashi, confirmed the results on Saturday evening following the completion of the local council elections in the state.

He said candidates of the ruling NNPP won all chairmanship and councillorship seats across the state.

Malumfashi confirmed that six political parties participated in the elections, commending the residents of Kano for maintaining peace throughout the voting process.

“Kano residents demonstrated commendable behavior, allowing a smooth and orderly election,” said Malumfashi, emphasizing the commission’s appreciation for the peaceful conduct.” He said.

Grassroots Parrot had earlier reported that the pre-election activities were characterized with a series of court orders and counter orders for and against the exercise.
