The Kano State Government has postpones its planned declaration of a state of emergency in the education sector till further notice.
The government cited the ongoing nationwide strike declared by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress TUC as a reason for the postponement.
A statement issued late Monday by Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor spokesman, said “the postponement was considered essential in light of the industrial action disrupting major activities nationwide.”
The statement reads further “The state extends its apologies for any inconvenience caused to the invited guests due to the cancellation.
“Details regarding the rescheduling of the event will be communicated in the near future.” The statement said.
