Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has issued a stern 7-day ultimatum to contractors handling the 5-kilometer road projects in several local government areas, warning them to return to their construction sites or face termination of their contracts.
According to reports, Governor Yusuf made this declaration during an inspection visit to the 5-kilometer road project in Ghari (formerly Kunchi) Local Government Area on Friday. The governor emphasized that the ultimatum applies to contractors across all local governments involved in the projects. He stated that any contractor failing to resume work within the specified period would be replaced.
Governor Yusuf disclosed that the state government had already taken over some road projects from contractors who failed to meet their obligations in other local government areas. He noted that the new contractors hired to replace the non-performing ones have successfully completed their assignments.

The governor also expressed disappointment over the neglect of the road projects by the previous administration of Abdullahi Ganduje. He lamented that the projects, which were initiated during the tenure of former Governor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso in 2013, had been left incomplete for several years.
In addition to the ultimatum, Governor Yusuf commissioned a new road project in Garin Yan Dadi and inspected ongoing projects at the College of Education in Ghari Local Government. He highlighted that the college, which had been previously closed, has now reopened, providing the people of Ghari with access to quality education.
The caretaker chairman of Ghari Local Government, Sagir Lawan, also spoke at the event, expressing his gratitude for the developmental projects being executed by the Kano State government in both the local government and the state as a whole.
