The Deputy Governor of Kano State and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Aminu Abdussalam, expressed confidence in the individuals overseeing local government activities in the state.
This was conveyed during the inauguration of a three-day orientation retreat in Kaduna State on Sunday, according to a press statement from the Deputy Governor’s office.
The retreat, focused on the “Operational Guidelines for the Kano State Local Government Interim Management Committee,” aims to equip participants with the knowledge required to effectively manage their responsibilities and promote local government development.

Emphasizing the importance of understanding operational guidelines, the Deputy Governor stated, “You need to understand all aspects of LGA functions, including the budgeting process, and seek clarifications from your DPMs or Treasurers, where necessary.”
He reiterated that the appointments of the Interim Caretaker Committee chairmen, vice-chairmen, directors of personnel management, and treasurers were based on professionalism, qualifications, and the confidence of the New Nigeria People’s Party administration.
Gwarzo urged all officials to be responsible in their duties, calling on seminar consultants to foster collaborative and sustainable working relationships among the Interim Caretaker Committee members for the betterment of their respective local governments.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ibrahim Kabara, thanked the Deputy Governor for the timely training and encouraged participants to engage wholeheartedly. The Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, represented by his deputy, Muhammad Bello, highlighted that the operational guidelines would enhance transparency, accountability, and effective service delivery in LGA activities.
Participants expressed gratitude to Governor Abba Yusuf for his leadership and support of grassroots governance and to the Deputy Governor for empowering local government administrators with essential knowledge for sustainable development.
