The Federal Government has granted approval for a significant reduction in electricity tariffs for Band A customers in Nigeria, lowering the rate to ₦206.80 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) from the previous ₦225/kWh.
Band A customers are classified as electricity consumers who receive a minimum supply of 20 hours daily.
In a notice issued to its customers on Monday, Ikeja Electric, one of Nigeria’s major electricity distribution companies, announced the tariff adjustment.

Grassroots Parrot gathered that the decision marks a notable effort by the government to provide relief to Band A consumers who benefit from longer hours of electricity supply.
