The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has suspended admission into the Law programme in eight universities for the 2025/2026 academic session.

This decision follows the suspension of the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) programme in the affected institutions by the Council of Legal Education (CLE) due to violations of regulatory procedures.

JAMB’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, confirmed the development in a statement, listing the affected institutions as follows:

  2. Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State
  3. Redeemers University, Ede, Osun State
  4. Western Delta University, Oghara, Delta State
  5. Taraba State University, Jalingo
  6. Arthur Jarvis University, Akpabuyo, Cross River State
  7. Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State
  8. Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State

The suspension of the Law programme at the Nigerian Police Academy will extend through the 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 academic sessions.

“As a result, JAMB will not approve any admissions for candidates seeking to enrol in the Law programme at the aforementioned universities for the 2025/2026 academic session,” Dr. Benjamin stated.

A source from one of the affected universities revealed that the suspension is a consequence of past violations regarding admission quotas.

“We violated admission quota some five years ago. We are being punished alongside the listed universities as a deterrence to future violators,” the source said.

The CLE and JAMB’s actions aim to ensure compliance with legal education standards and maintain the integrity of the LL.B programme in Nigeria.

Students aspiring to study Law are advised to apply to other accredited institutions with approved quotas and regulatory compliance.
