The convener of the #RevolutionNow movement, Omoyele Sowore, has vowed to continue coming to Nigeria, despite being placed on the watchlist of the government.
After being briefly detained by the Nigeria Immigration Service at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Sunday, Sowore declared that he would not be intimidated or deterred from returning to the country.
Following his arrest upon arrival into the country by the Department of State Services (DSS), Sowore was released and had his passport returned.

Speaking to journalists immediately after his release, the activist criticized the government’s actions, drawing a parallel between President Bola Tinubu’s current administration and Tinubu’s own experience of fleeing Nigeria in 1994 when accused by the military dictator Sani Abacha.
Sowore stressed that he will not flee, unlike Tinubu, who left the country after false accusations from the military regime. “I am not bragging. I am not running away from anybody. It is either we get it right or we all perish,” Sowore stated, adding that bad leadership would be the downfall of the nation if left unchallenged.

He also criticized President Tinubu, accusing him of treating protesters today in the same way he was treated by the Abacha regime in 1994. Despite the government’s targeting, Sowore affirmed his commitment to fighting for the liberation of Nigeria.
“I will continue to maintain my right to travel freely whether he puts me on a watchlist or down list,” he added, urging Nigerians to keep fighting against bad governance.
