The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested a man identified as Taufiq in the Sabuwar Gandu area over allegations of engaging in witchcraft.
Deputy Commander of the Board, Sheikh Mujahid Aminudden, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued to journalists on Friday.
According to him, the arrest followed several complaints from residents in the community, which prompted Hisbah officials to launch an investigation into Taufiq’s activities.

“After concluding our findings, Hisbah operatives moved in and arrested the suspect,” Sheikh Mujahid stated.
He noted that the practice had unsettled residents, leading them to seek the intervention of the authorities.
The statement added that Taufiq will be charged to court for allegedly practicing witchcraft, an offence prohibited under Kano State law.
