Kano State Hisbah Board on Tuesday confirmed the arrest of seven women accused of stealing fabrics and other textiles related materials.
Grassroots Parrot reports that the suspects were accused of perpetrating the act at the popular Kantin Kwari Market in Kano State.
The Commandant of the Hisbah Board, Kano Municipal Area Command, said the arrests were made following the apprehension of a constabulary police officer, who was conniving with the thieves to perpetrate the crime.

Commenting on the development, Chairman of the Kantin Kwari Market, Hamisu Sa’adu Dogon Nama said the suspects have been terrorizing the market for a while especially when there is congestion in the market.
He commended the Hisbah officials for the operation that led to the arrest of the officials.
Some of the women confessed to the crime while speaking with our correspondent.
They confirmed that they usually visit the market from neighboring states to perpetrate their criminal acts.
