Fubara Congratulates Sanusi Ahead Of Reinstatement As Kano Emir

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State on Thursday congratulated His Royal Highness, Muhammad Sanusi II, on what he described as his reinstatement as the 14th Emir of Kano.

Recall that Emir Muhammadu Sanusi was dethroned on March 9, 2020, by the immediate past Governor Abdullahi Ganduje following the amendment of the emirate council laws.

Grassroots Parrot reports that Governor Fubara’s congratulatory message came hours after the Kano State House of Assembly passed the Kano Emirates Council Law (Repeal Bill) 2024 on Thursday.

The bill, according to the 10th Assembly, abolished the establishment of five new emirates in the state.

The bill, which scaled through the second and third readings on Thursday, nullified the creation of the Bichi, Rano, Gaya, and Karaye emirates alongside the historic Kano Emirate.

Even though Governor Abba Kabiru Yusuf has yet to assent to the bill, there are indications that the move would pave the way for the return of the ousted former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.

Fubara, in a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, said that he received the report of the reinstatement of the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) with great excitement.

According to him, the report came at a time when Khalifa Sanusi II was in the state to add impetus to his administration’s initiative to reshape the economic trajectory of the state.

The statement read: “The reinstatement by the Kano State Government showed that Sanusi’s dethronement on March 9, 2020, was against the wishes and aspirations of the great people of Kano.”

He commended the Kano state government for listening to the yearnings of the people and acting to correct the wrongs of the past.

The governor urged the people to give the Emir the maximum support to succeed.

He also urged the monarch to lead his subjects with love, wisdom, and courage while bringing lasting peace, justice, equity, and fairness to all in the city of Kano.

He wished the 14th Emir of Kano a successful and fruitful reign that would bring progress and prosperity to the people of the state.
