A Sharia Court in Kano State has ordered the remand of a 29-year-old man, Abduljabar Nura, in a correctional facility for allegedly stabbing his neighbour during a dispute over an electricity bill.
The defendant, who resides in Fagge Quarters, was charged with causing grievous hurt. When the charge was read in court, he pleaded guilty to the offence.
Presiding over the case, Judge Umar Lawal-Abubakar directed that Nura be held at the Goron Dutse Correctional Centre in Kano until April 15, when sentencing will be delivered.

According to the prosecution counsel, Zahradeen Abubakar, the case was reported by the victim, Haruna Kasim, at the Fagge Police Station on February 28.
The prosecution stated that the altercation arose from a disagreement over an electricity bill, culminating in Nura stabbing Kasim in the back with a pair of scissors.
The court adjourned the matter for sentencing while the accused remains in custody.
