An FCT High Court in Abuja has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of former Minister of Special Duties, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN), over allegations of providing false information to the police.

The court, presided over by Justice Keke Meke, also dismissed an application by the defence seeking to quash the charges, ruling that the case should proceed as filed.
Turaki is expected to be arraigned by the Nigeria Police Force, under the leadership of the Inspector General of Police.

The case was initially scheduled at a High Court in Zuba, but the defendant failed to appear to take his plea.
In response, his legal team petitioned against the presiding judge and requested a reassignment of the case.
However, Justice Meke ruled that there was no valid excuse for Turaki’s absence, noting he was aware of the proceedings, and consequently ordered his arrest. The matter has been adjourned to April 22 for arraignment.
