The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) has officially endorsed President Bola Tinubu as the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s sole presidential candidate for the 2027 elections.

The announcement was made on Thursday at the National Summit of the APC, held at the Banquet Hall of the State House, Abuja. Speaking on behalf of the governors, Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF) and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, declared the unanimous decision, describing Tinubu as the ideal leader to continue steering Nigeria towards prosperity.

Uzodimma moved the motion for Tinubu’s adoption, stressing the importance of continuity in leadership to consolidate on the achievements of the current administration.

“For Nigeria to get to her destination faster in prosperity, the president should be used and adopted as our flag bearer for the 2027 presidential election for a second term in office,” Uzodimma said.

“It is my humble pleasure to move that this August assembly adopt and concur with the position of the progressive governors that Mr. President carry our flag in 2027.”

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State, who serves as vice chairman of the PGF, seconded the motion, praising Tinubu’s leadership and the administration’s performance thus far.

“I rise to second the motion as ably moved by the chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum that this August gathering pass a vote of confidence on our able and amiable president, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as the sole candidate of APC come the 2027 general election,” Sani stated.

The motion was subsequently put to a vote and was unanimously adopted by attendees through a voice vote and standing ovation.

Among the dignitaries present at the summit were Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, members of the National Assembly, serving and former governors, and APC members from across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The vote of confidence in President Tinubu marks a significant show of unity within the ruling party, signaling early preparations for the next electoral cycle.

The governors also pledged to intensify grassroots mobilization and ensure the delivery of the party’s mandate in their respective states in the lead-up to the 2027 elections.
