NATIONAL GRID 3

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has confirmed that Nigeria is currently generating 0.80 Megawatt of electricity as the country’s power grid has collapsed again.

The TCN indicates on its website on Saturday that power plants contribution to the grid began to decline around 2pm to 2,797.16MW from the average 3,417.99MW around 1pm.

However, the supply declined further around 3pm to 1,020.08 before it eventually fell to 0.80 by 4pm.

The 0.80 was generated by the Trans-Amadi Power plant, according to report.

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) confirmed the collapse, saying the incident occurred around 3:09pm.

A statement signed by its head of Corporate Affairs, Emeka Ezeh, noted that the situation led to loss of power supply.

“This is to inform our esteemed customers of a general system collapse which occurred at 15:09 hours today, 6th July, 2024. This has resulted in the loss of supply currently being experienced across the network.”

“Due to this development, all our interface TCN stations are out of supply, and we are unable to provide services to our customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States.

“We are on standby awaiting detailed information of the collapse and restoration of supply from the National Control Centre (NCC), Osogbo.”

It could be recalled that this is the fourth power grid collapse in 2024.
