The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has called for the arrest of Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), following his accusations against the Federal Government.

Grassroots Parrot earlier reported that Senator Kwankwaso accused the federal government of breeding new Boko Haram insurgents in Kano.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Kano State APC Chairman Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas demanded swift action from security agencies. “Nigeria’s security owes an urgent responsibility of not only arresting Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who is behind the allegations, but they must also identify those who are sponsoring the insecurity in the state,” Abbas stated.

Kwankwaso made his allegations on Monday during the flag-off ceremony for the construction of an 85-kilometer rural road in his hometown, Madobi.

He claimed that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is fostering a new breed of Boko Haram terrorists in Kano, citing the deployment of heavy security to the Nasarawa mini palace, where the deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero resides.

In response, the Kano APC chair insisted that security agencies should detain Kwankwaso and compel him to reveal those allegedly recruiting Boko Haram terrorists under the Federal Government’s directives.

“We call on security agents to arrest this man so he can disclose the identities of the people he claims are enemies of the state working to recruit Boko Haram terrorists,” the statement continued.

Abbas condemned Kwankwaso’s comments as indicative of a sinister plan to incite unrest in Kano. He accused Kwankwaso of being a longstanding security threat to the state and the nation, alleging that he leads a cult-like movement known as Kwankwasiyya, which recruits youths, mostly school dropouts, to perpetrate violence.

The statement also recalled incidents from before and during the 2023 election, alleging that numerous youths were recruited and empowered by Kwankwaso to intimidate the public through physical attacks and property destruction.

Additionally, Abbas claimed that armed thugs have been stationed at the Emir’s Palace since the controversial reappointment of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as Emir, posing a threat to nearby residents.

Despite these accusations, Abbas affirmed that the Federal Government would not be intimidated by threats from Kwankwaso, maintaining that the authorities would uphold security and order in Kano.
