Kano residents lauded the peaceful atmosphere that accompanied the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations on Sunday, despite the ongoing emirate crisis. The Kano State Police Command expressed satisfaction with the orderly conduct of Sallah prayers across the state.
The State Commissioner of Police, Hussaini Gumel, recently promoted to Assistant Inspector-General, praised the residents for their disciplined behavior at various prayer grounds both within and outside Kano metropolis.
Reports from all 44 local government areas confirmed that the festivities were celebrated without any incidents.
There had been concerns that tensions from the emirship tussle might disrupt the Sallah celebrations. The state police command had preemptively banned the Kano Durbar following conflicting orders about the celebration.

The Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi, and the deposed Emir Ado Bayero had requested police security for the Durbar, which led to fears of potential anarchy.
The royal crisis in Kano escalated after Emir Sanusi was reinstated as the 16th Emir of Kano following the repeal of the Kano Emirate Law 2019 and the enactment of the Kano Emirate Law 2024 on May 23, 2024.
Governor Abba Yusuf signed the new bill into law on May 24, 2024, recognizing Sanusi’s authority while dismissing the rulers of five emirates—Kano, Bichi, Karaye, Gaya, and Rano—established by ex-Governor Umar Ganduje.
Due to the ban on the Durbar and instructions for contending emirs to pray at separate mosques, Bayero attended prayers at Nassarawa Mosque, while Sanusi prayed at Sheikh Tijjani Mosque at Kofar Mata.

They praised the peaceful conduct of prayers and commended the police and security agencies, while they called for continued security beyond the Sallah celebrations and equally urged residents to support security efforts by reporting suspicious activities.
Meanwhile, Grassroots Parrot reported that the Arewa Youth Advancement Forum had extended a message of solidarity to Bayero.
