Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma to immediately stop presenting himself as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District election scheduled for January 16, 2027.
The judge issued the order after ruling that Uzodinma did not win the APC primary election conducted on May 18 and monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In his judgment, Justice Egwuatu held that evidence before the court showed that former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha secured the majority of votes cast at the primary and should be recognised as the winner.
The court subsequently directed the APC to submit Okorocha’s name to the relevant authorities as its candidate for the Imo West senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.
Further details are expected.
