The Department of State Services (DSS) has reportedly arrested a medical doctor accused of supplying drugs and medical support to kidnapping gangs operating across parts of Kwara State.
The suspect, whose identity had not been disclosed as of press time, was intercepted in the Jebba area after intelligence revealed that medical couriers had been transporting supplies from Sokoto to treat wounded bandits hiding in forests within the state.
According to security sources, several members of the criminal groups have sustained gunshot injuries during recent clashes with security forces, prompting them to seek discreet medical attention.
“We are advising improved security measures in health facilities in thickly forested areas which the kidnappers may target,” a security official warned, noting that the pressure on the gangs has left many desperate for medical aid.

Confirming the development, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Kwara State, Rafiu Ajakaye, described the arrest as a major step forward in the state’s campaign against banditry.
“This is a major stride by the DSS. It reinforces the fact that security agencies are closing in on these criminals and blocking the support systems that enable their operations,” Ajakaye said.
He added that the state government would continue to collaborate closely with security agencies to dismantle all channels aiding kidnapping activities and ensure improved safety for residents.
