The Abia State Police Command has arrested a 68-year-old woman, Mrs. Victoria Madubuko of Ndiambe Ozuitem in Bende Local Government Area, for allegedly flogging a 22-year-old girl, Nnenna Eke, to death.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Danladi Isa, disclosed this while briefing journalists at the Command Headquarters in Umuahia.
According to him, Madubuko reportedly used a native cane known as “Okpete” to beat the young woman following an altercation. The victim later fell ill from the injuries sustained and was rushed to Tochi Hospital, where doctors confirmed her dead.
The police chief said the remains of the deceased had been deposited at Akaelu mortuary in Bende LGA, while the suspect is in custody as detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Umuahia, continue investigations.

In a separate incident, CP Isa also confirmed the arrest of a 31-year-old man, Chimaobi Nwanne of Abayi village, for allegedly stabbing his kinsman, Chinonso Chukwuemeka, during a dispute over a business transaction.
He explained that Chukwuemeka was stabbed in the chest and rushed to Akachukwu Hospital, Eastern Ngwa, where doctors confirmed him dead. The suspect reportedly fled to Umuezenta Mbasi village after the incident but was later tracked down and arrested by police operatives from the Eastern Ngwa Divisional Headquarters.
The Commissioner assured that both suspects would face the full weight of the law once investigations are concluded.
