No fewer than six people have lost their lives, while 12 others sustained varying degrees of injuries in a tragic motor accident in the Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
The incident occurred on Sunday at about 3:00 p.m. along the Ringim–Dutse road, when a driver reportedly lost control and plowed into a group of residents gathered to welcome Governor Umar Namadi, who was on his way to Ringim for a citizens’ engagement program popularly known as Gwamnati da Jana’s.
Grassroots Parrot gathered that among the victims are a pregnant woman and children, who were immediately evacuated to the Ringim General Hospital. Three of the deceased individuals succumbed to their injuries immediately, while the remaining three perished during hospital treatment.

Ringim, Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), CRC Ado Adamu, confirmed the incident, explaining that his office received the accident report and quickly dispatched a rescue team to Yakasawa village, the scene of the crash.
According to Adamu, the tragedy occurred when the driver of an ash-coloured Volkswagen Golf, with registration number FKJ 102BB, lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the crowd.
Some of the injured have since been referred to the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital for further medical attention.
