Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has ordered an investigation into the alleged involvement of the state’s Commissioner for Transport, Alhaji Ibrahim Namadi, in securing the controversial bail of a suspected drug baron, Sulaiman Aminu, popularly known as Danwawu.

Reports linking the commissioner to documents allegedly used to facilitate Danwawu’s release sparked widespread public outcry, prompting the move.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, disclosed that a special committee has been constituted to probe the matter.

The panel, which will be chaired by Barrister Aminu Hussain, Special Adviser to the Governor on Justice and Constitutional Matters, is tasked with investigating the circumstances surrounding the bail and recommending necessary actions.

Other members of the committee include Barristers Hamza Haladu and Hamza Nuhu Dantani, Alhaji Abdullahi Mahmoud Umar, retired Major General Sani Muhammad, Comrade Kabiru Said Dakata, and Hajiya Bilkisu Maimota, who will serve as the committee’s secretary.

Governor Yusuf, while announcing the probe, expressed deep concern over the allegations and reaffirmed his administration’s zero-tolerance stance on drug abuse and related crimes in Kano State. He assured the public that anyone found culpable would face the full weight of the law.
