The Honourable Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Yusuf Atah, has expressed deep appreciation to the people of Kano State for the historic and heartfelt welcome extended to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his condolence visit to the state on Friday, July 18, 2025.

President Tinubu was in Kano to commiserate with the government and people of the state following the death of renowned industrialist and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Dantata.

The visit witnessed a massive turnout as thousands of Kano residents lined the streets from the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport to various parts of the city to show solidarity with the President.

Minister Atah described the warm reception as a testament to Kano’s famed hospitality and the people’s deep-seated respect for leadership that embodies compassion and presence.

“The people of Kano have, once again, demonstrated their legendary hospitality and respect for true leadership. Their turnout was not just a welcome—it was a loud statement of appreciation to a President who has proven, again and again, that he is a leader who cares deeply for his people in their moments of grief and need,” Atah said.

The Minister lauded the President’s personal visit as a demonstration of empathy and humility, noting that it reflected a people-first approach to governance.

“Mr. President has once again shown that leadership is more than governance—it is about humanity. His decision to personally condole with the family of the late Alhaji Aminu Dantata is a testament to his enduring values of respect, service, and solidarity.”

He further drew a parallel between the President’s Kano visit and his national response to the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari on July 13, 2025. Tinubu had declared a national mourning period and spearheaded a state burial for Buhari, earning widespread commendation.

“These dual moments of compassion—first in honoring a national statesman and then in mourning a business and philanthropic titan—highlight a consistent character in the President: a sincere commitment to unity, dignity, and the emotional pulse of the nation,” Atah added.

Minister Atah also praised the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibril, for his critical role in ensuring the success and decorum of the President’s visit.

“Senator Barau Jibril remains a pride of the North. His presence, tact, and genuine loyalty to both the President and the people of Kano were key to the overwhelming success of the visit. His efforts did not go unnoticed.”

According to the Minister, President Tinubu’s actions have further solidified his bond with Northern Nigeria and elevated his profile among Nigerians across different spheres — including political, religious, and business communities.

“There’s no doubt that Nigeria is blessed to have President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at this point in our national journey. His ability to stand with the people in mourning, to honor legacies without political filters, and to offer personal presence rather than remote sympathies, is the mark of a truly seasoned statesman.”

Concluding, Atah reaffirmed Kano’s unwavering support for Tinubu’s leadership, stating that the President’s compassionate gestures have endeared him even more to the hearts of the people.

“The President’s name now rings even deeper in the hearts of our people, and his kindness will continue to count for him as he seeks to deliver on his promises of good governance for all Nigerians,” he said.
