The Kano State Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has approved the demotion of a court registrar, Adamu Salisu, for forgery and falsification of affidavits of service.
This was disclosed in a statement issued in Kano by the spokesperson of the state judiciary, Baba Jibo-Ibrahim, following the commission’s 84th meeting held on Friday.
According to the statement, Salisu, who was serving as Registrar in charge of High Court No. 13, was demoted from Grade Level 13 to Grade Level 12 and relieved of his position. He was found guilty of forging the signature of a bailiff and unlawfully signing documents as a Commissioner for Oaths.
“He admitted guilt and was found liable for gross misconduct,” Jibo-Ibrahim said. “He has also been issued a strong warning to desist from any further unethical practices or influencing others to do the same. Failure to comply could lead to stricter penalties, including criminal prosecution.”

The spokesperson emphasized that the decision was in line with the JSC’s mandate to maintain discipline and integrity within the judiciary.
In a separate disciplinary action, Yusuf Ayuba, a Clerical Assistant attached to High Court No. 8, Miller Road, was also sanctioned after being found guilty of gross misconduct. The Judiciary Public Complaints Committee (JPCC) discovered that Ayuba had abandoned his duty post without justification for four consecutive months.
As a result, the JSC demoted him from Grade Level 5 to Grade Level 4.
“These sanctions are meant to serve as a deterrent to other judiciary staff and to curb issues of absenteeism and misconduct,” the statement added.
Jibo-Ibrahim reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to enforcing discipline, accountability, and professional ethics across all levels of the judiciary.
“The commission maintains a zero-tolerance policy for misconduct and remains resolute in upholding the integrity of the judicial system,” he said.
